    NCQA-certified programs have received certification from NCQA that the GlaxoSmithKline development process meets rigorous criteria for disease management program content and design. Here are a few details:

    NCQA certification criteria include:

    • Evidence-based content
      • Clinical practice guidelines known to be effective in improving health outcomes
      • Effectiveness determined by scientific evidence or, in absence of that evidence, expert opinion or professional standards
      • Sources may include National Institutes of Health, professional medical associations, and voluntary health organizations
    • Continuous quality improvement
    • Patient testing
    • Review by actively practicing providers
    • Health plans that use NCQA-certified disease management programs may be able to receive credit toward their own accreditation for certain elements related to disease management

    Multilanguage resources provide a select number of patient education tools in 20 languages: Arabic, Armenian, Bosnian, Cambodian, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Haitian-Creole, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. The translation of each tool is certified.

    Therapeutic areas in which multilanguage tools are available include asthma, bipolar disorder, COPD, depression, diabetes, heart failure, medication adherence, migraine, overactive bladder, restless legs syndrome, and rhinitis.
